Drummer Brandon Richter has parted ways with Motionless in White.  He has made this statement:

"I’m announcing sadly I won’t be apart of MIW anymore. I won’t go into great detail to as why I chose to leave the band. What I would like to say tho is I’m extremely grateful to have been able to play music for all of you and meet and interact with so many amazing people. To the fans I have made I hope u continue to support me through my newly made changes and see what I do next! I am and will ALWAYS be here for all of you!! I am sorry for those who were wanting to see me perform in Australia and Warped but you have not seen the end of me. Bigger things are ahead and life chose to take me down a different path. Thank you again for all of you awesome fans and your support."

In a recent interview, Suicide Silence said their new album will contain lyrics written by Mitch Lucker before his passing.  They have also released a track list for The Mitch Lucker Memorial Show.

Well, it's Sunday again and that means a new Band of the Week!  This weeks band is Black Veil Brides!  I realize some of these bands a big bands, but some people may just be getting into the music and not know these bands or, like me, know of them but only know a few things by them.  Now, back to BVB.

I call Black Veil Brides "the little band that could".  They seem to have broken out from the crowd almost overnight, landing tracks on such things as the soundtrack for The Avengers movie.  Their lead singer is Andy Biersack, along with Ashley Purdy on bass, Jake Pitts on guitar, CC (Christian Coma) on Drums and Jinxx on guitar and virtually everything else. They have had many singles and three studio albums.  Check them out if you haven't already.  I saw them on stage at Warped last year (2013) and they are dynamic!

Name Change!!

Hello all!  I will be making a few changes to the blog in the coming weeks, starting with a change in name and URL.  Discover the Music just flows much better than Discovery of the Bands and, hopefully, will be a little easier to remember (and not sound quite so stupid).  The URL only changed slightly and, unfortunately, does not match the blog title.  It is possible that the blog name will change again in order to match the URL, but I am unsure at this time.  I also plan on adding an official e-mail and twitter for the blog and possibly a tumblr and facebook as well (unsure about facebook).  Anyway, just thought I'd update you guys on what's going on and if you have us bookmarked or anything, make sure you update that.  Hope you are enjoying the blog! I hope to have lots of things coming to you guys in the future.  Let me know if you have anything thoughts on the name.  I have changed it to Discover the Music but the URL is discoverthebands.blogspot.com  Should I change the title to Discover the Bands so it can match?  (discoverthemusic.blogspot.com and all variations of it were taken)

Featured Band of the Week!!!

In honor of the fact that they started following me on twitter a few days ago (out of the blue! I didn't ask or anything), this week's Featured Band of the Week is Get Scared!!!  Get Scared is an American band out of Utah.  Their lead vocalist is Nicholas Matthews (replaced only briefly in 2012 by Joel Faviere who now doing his own thing so check him out).  The rest of the band has Jonathan "Johnny B" Braddock on lead guitar, Adam Virostko on guitar, Bradley "Lloyd" Iverson on guitar, and Dan Juarez on drums.  Interestingly, Get Scared used TJ Bell as a touring member on bass in 2011-2012.  TJ now plays full time in Escape the Fate with Craig Mabbit who did a guest on Get Scared's single Sarcasm in 2010.  Get Scared has two studio albums, Best Kind of Mess and Everyone's Out To Get Me.  They also have four EPs,  Cheap Tricks and Theatrics, Get Scared, Cheap Tricks and Theatrics: B-Sides, Built for Blame, Laced With Shame with many singles and videos made along the way.  Check out Get Scared at the links below!
